Got Color? The Movie

Connect with Color. This weekend we put together a small promotional film for our Fall Colors Contest. It's called Got Color? and stars The Blind Cotton Theater Company, with special help from Mzungu Kichaa Productions. Enjoy, pass it on and connect with color!

WHOA! I'm Your COO!

9-7-washington.jpgEveryone who works for AT was a reader first. It is with this in mind that we are putting up this post and copy catting our favorite ice cream company (see 1994).

The time has come to find a really good, smart, fanatic person who is capable of joining our staff here at AT and helping to run operations and all that business-y stuff for the years ahead. Is this you? If so, read on...

Pardon Us While We...

8-13-car.jpgWe're working under the hood this weekend. Please excuse us while Mark has been shifting our entire publishing system this weekend to a new server. Although you won't notice any great changes on Monday, everything should load far quicker, and it lays the foundation for everything we're adding in the next eight weeks, including a new search function this week. Yee-Haw!

AT on: Commenters and Banning

7-17-ostacism.jpgThis is a tough subject. As a school teacher for seven years I learned to have faith in community and also to believe in the necessity for discipline in order to preserve community. Tempermentally I tend to be lenient, but I find I get less so each year. Quick, decisive discipline coupled with the availability of forgiveness is now my model.

Which is all to say that much as we hate to do it (and by we I mean the gaggle of us who now make up AT), we've had to ban two readers in the past week, and we want to be very clear about how and why...

Editor Search: GreenTherapist?

5-30-green.jpgHow can your home be more green? Apartment Therapy has always been green. It informs all of our blogs, from the original AT:NY to our newest, Home Tech. But the time has come to expand our coverage for the home: we are planning a dedicated site to present the good green content from all of our current editors while adding posts from a new super-eco blogger (or two)...

Small Cool 2007: Honorable Mention #4

(This is the fourth of our 4 honorable mentions, which go to submissions that did not make the finals but really rock. They are awarded purely at the judge's discretion. Each honorable mention receives a special gift.)

Michael2.JPG

From Michael Sainato:

"My wife is Dutch and I LOVE Amsterdam, so the inspiration for this apartment is close to my heart. Its well put together and actually feels like a suite in a very cool hotel. I also applaud his approach to keeping only what the apartment can handle and not over crowding the space."

2007 State of the Blog Address

4-30-blog.jpgA year ago in May we wrote our second State of the Blog Address.

As opposed to the previous year, this past one has cruised by in a flurry of activity, bringing with it a tremendous amount of growth... (Link here for more)

Small Cool 2007 : Hanging Chad Test

4-9-sanfranvote.jpgVote Here. Below is a test survey that has just been created by Mark over the weekend. It is smart, sexy and foolproof. In advance of our voting starting tomorrow, please give it a test and let us know if you have any problems at all: support @ apartmenttherapy.com. BTW if you have an old browser or a firewall at work, you may have trouble. Solution: upgrade your browser or try from home.

AT News: New Comment Bugs

3-27-bugs.jpgThanks for bearing with us as over 75 thousand of you hit the new comment system on all seven sites yesterday. We are working quickly to correct all the bugs. (Email us with any problems at support @ apartmenttherapy . com).

That said, the big one seems to be those folks who register with Hotmail addresses. Our system sends a confirmation to these emails which never shows up. We checked the blacklistings and didn't see a problem there, so now we're working on a complicated rerouting that may take until tomorrow...

Small Cool 2007: We're On!

3-21-smallcoolad2.jpgIt's that time again.

The deadline? Friday, April 6th. (Just two weeks!)

For the third year in a row -- and the first for AT:SF, so we're really excited about seeing those Northern California and Pacific Northwest entries -- we're revving up our engines and inviting any and all comers to jump into our Smallest Coolest Apartment Contest. All homes are eligible under 650 square feet ANYWHERE in the world, and our prizes from DWR are big, big, big.

All info is right here. All past contest entries are here: SC 2005, SC 2006.

Small Cool 2007: People Get Ready!

3-8-smallcoolad.jpgMake it Small in April. Once again we're revving up our engines with Design Within Reach for our biggest contest of the year: The Smallest Coolest Apartment Contest.

Started three years ago, the premise is simple; somewhere out there in the wide, wide world (yes, were opening it up!) is a home so SMALL and so BEAUTIFUL and so DAMN COOL, that is represents the very highest achievement in its class.

Is this you?

AT is on Oprah Now...

Welcome to AT: The Nursery!

2-7-ursulasmall.jpg We knew that home design for babies and children was an area of great interest to many, but instead of letting it creep into our Home sites, we've split it off and launched our newest site this morning: The Nursery.

It's all about that part of the home that's about kids. And, like all our sites, it's all about making your home beautiful, organized and healthy. Come check us out and pass it on.
