We've always secretly wanted a cast iron bed. Something about their classic, dare we say romantic, form just appeals to us. And while we don't think about L.L. Bean as being a place to buy furniture, their Cottage Iron Bed is the timeless piece we've always dreamed about.

I just posted this last week on AT/NY!

this looks similar to one I bought on Overstock - $200 for a queen, and $2 shipping. It's a good bed, very sturdy.

sigh, this is very similar to one i have at my parents on the other coast...its been passed on through the generations...still haven't been able to get it cross country (shipping would probably cost as much as one of these new ones!)

We puchased this exact bed from LLBean nearly 9 years ago and still looks brand new. It has held up great and we love it - classic bed. We actually made the trip to the store and puchased it (my husband didn't trust buying out of a catalog!). But it looks as good as the catalog.

I sleep in this bed, it's from the 30's I think. My parents received it as a wedding gift from my grandmother's neighbors. It was white and my mother painted it black. The balls (finials) on mine are brass. It is super sturdy. Love it.

Is it a lead-contaminated Chinese import?

AT- Thanks for sharing!!! I've been looking for a bed like this.
Bruised- I asked about where it was made and this is the response I received:
Headboard and footboard: Malaysia
Rails: USA
Hope that helps :-)

Bruised, are you planning on biting the headboard? Oh, wait, nevermind! ;)
