SF Good Questions: Can Anyone Identify this Headboard?

7-10-headboard.jpgHi AT:SF, I'm trying to find out more information on this headboard. It was in The Company Store catalog. I contacted them and they said it was a prop from the photographer and didn't have any information to offer. It is perfect for our bedroom and I am swooning with the thought that this might be "the one." Thanks for any help that you can provide,

-Dianna

It looks like a vintage 60s bed that has been padded in leather.

That looks similar but not exactly like the king-sized headboard my parents used to have until my mother threw it out. Some of the furniture suite still is around and I like it (my mother promised her dresser to me), but I can't tell you who made it.. and yeah, it's from the 60s.

Looks like a vintage headboard to me. Perhaps the Company Store can refer you to the prop stylist, they may have more information. I understand the obsession-I've been looking for a good vintage headboard for a long time, they are tough to find.

Contact the Art Director at the company store. They can contact the stylist or photographer for more info about this headboard.

Well at least it's not 13,000 dollars. Kind of makes you wish you never found it so you could still want it.

Ha, dmancini, that's pretty much how I feel about 80% of the stuff on here.

Hi - it was my original question - and my swoon has made an abrupt end (ddc is crazy expensive). But I will keep a look out for something vintage and hope to get lucky someday.
I appreciate the time everyone took to respond.

dianna:

both edward wormley for dunbar and paul mccobb did headboards with a similar vibe in the 1950s, (i like the caned ones), which do pop up on ebay and at auction from time to time. people don't get into fever bidding for these bedroom pieces (as they do for cabinetry and sofas). they usually go for $200-500.

good luck. http://cgi.ebay.com/Paul-McCobb-Danish-Mid-Century-Modern-King-Headboard_W0QQitemZ250268553727QQihZ015QQcategoryZ156309QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem.

This looks exactly like the headboard we had back in 1968 when we first got married. I don't know the manufacturer name. Purchased at Apple furniture store in St. Louis. I don't know whatever happened to ours. It would be funny if this was it. It was a full size bed with frame. Also came with matching dresser and chest. How funny to see this again!

Dianna,
There is a similar full bed on DC Craigslist for only $50 so don't ldespair (and don't pay $13000!).
