SF Good Questions: Charles P. Rogers Iron Beds/Iron Beds in San Francisco?

4-3-iron bed.jpgAT:SF, I'm looking for an iron bed in San Francisco. I'd like something well made and beautiful and I'm OK with a reproduction or an antique. Any idea where to go? My budget is under $2000 and I would like to stay local so I can see it in person and hopefully cut down on shipping costs. That said, any opinions on beds from Charles P. Rogers? I really like the one shown.

doesn't Zonal in San Francisco (Hayes Valley) have a lot of vintage iron beds? I know they used to...

I recently purchased....7 iron beds for my boss's ski house....we ordered them through Abode in Half Moon Bay with a designer's discount, but I did price them online before we did so and would have saved a bit going that route. Here's a link to the bed style we ended up purchasing:

$601 for full and free shipping is not too bad.

("Humble Abode" is not affiliated with Abode in Half Moon Bay as far as I can tell).

The Wesley Allen beds we ordered were beautiful, had a good solid weight and construction to them, and so far have not been squeaky. Lots of finish options to choose from, too. Overall my (rather picky) boss has been quite pleased....

I'm very close to buying a bed from The Wrought Iron Co. (based in Ireland, but they have a warehouse/US sales through Wichita, KS)-- http://www.thewroughtironco.com/ .This company was recommended by someone else on this site at some point (sorry I can't find the post that originally pointed me in their direction). Prices are good - esp. right now because they're having a spring sale! (15% off and free shipping). Might be worth your checking out!

My parents have purchased several Iron beds from Brass Beds of Virginia over the years, including one from a showroom in the east bay. You can find out more about local retailers through their website (http://www.brassbedofva.com/)

LL Bean has some for sale on their website, although I've never seen them in person.

I was going to say Zonal too. I noticed a number of nice iron beds there last time I was poking around Hayes Valley.

Check out http://www.thewroughtironco.com/

The quality is excellent and the prices significantly better than Charles P. Rogers. Excellent customer service as well. We have the Celtic bed and love it...

I've got a antique hospital style headboard, which you're welcome to for free. I'll try and post a picture of it in the classifieds.

Does anyone have any comments on the actual quality of Charles P Rogers beds? I am having a torrid love affair with their Campaign style bed.

I have also wondered about the quality of their linens.

We have two Charles P Rogers beds--one iron, one wood--and love them both. High quality, no squeaks.

Try Brass and Glass in Oakland, on College. They don't have Charles Rogers beds listed on their web site, but they still might carry them, or something very similar. I bought my iron canopy bed there (and I adore it). The service from both the sales and delivery people was exceptional. I highly recommend them.

I purchased a Charles P. Rogers bed (Rutherford model) about a year ago and was very pleased with the outcome. The customer service rep. was very nice and answered all my questions and the bed was shipped and received as promised. It arrived wrapped like a baby and was in perfect condition. They even included a small bottle of touch-up paint for any future dings or scratches. I would certainly recommend this company. Hope this helps!
