Voyage Bed

2007_02_22_voyage.jpg
When we were small we always wanted a bed in the shape of a race car, or better yet, a boat. Alas, the 'rents insisted on something sedate and serviceable.

The good thing about being a grown-up is that you can do anything you want in your bedroom. Including buying yourself a boat of a bed.

So how about the Voyage bed, from Pratt alum Kenneth Cobonpue? Crafted from steel and abaca, it's large and in charge but light as air. You need space for it, but the frame itself looks light enough to float down a tropical river.

Apparently Brad Pitt owns this dreamer. We don't know whether it's used as a family bed, but if so, score one for Shiloh, Zahara, and Maddox.

Available at Twentieth or Janus et Cie, both in LA.

King indoor $4,030
King outdoor $5,570
Queen indoor $3,535
Queen outdoor $5,055

HA! That's so funny! I used this bed in a design board I did last semester when I had to design a Filipino style bedroom. It was also featured in the LA mag, 944 last year.

Looked forward to seeing Kenneth's work every year at the Philippine International Furniture Show (PIFS) in our hometown of Cebu, and his designs never fail to inspire me. Now I need a home large enough to fit this bed!

Wow... this is one heck of a bed... this could be the center piece of a Cuban, filipino, or Moroccan themed bedroom!!

As exotic and fun as that bed looks, the arachnophobe in me says, "No Way!" It looks too easy for a spider make its home in it and spiral down on my head!
