Even totally adorable stores, like Relish at Home, need a little freshening up sometimes. This past weekend, the Berkeley store celebrated: 1) its two-year anniversary, 2) the unveiling of its remodeled space, and 3) the opening of artist Jill Bliss' exhibit at the store. The wine and lemonade were flowing, Relish owner Kelly Sperbeck and Jill herself were mingling, and the revamped space was getting lots of ooohs and aaahs.

Gone are the clothing that Relish once carried although cute handmade accessories are still abundant. Along with a heavier focus on housewares, the store will now play host to rotating exhibitions. Jill's, which is titled "Tides and Trees," runs through the end of the year.
Other merchandise that caught our attention: ceramics by Dovetail and J. Mendicino, new textiles by Lotta Jansdotter and log bowls by Loyal Loot.
As of this week, the store will be open Wednesday-Friday, 12-6pm; Saturday, 12-5pm. There aren't a lot of other boutiques in this part of Berkeley, but Relish alone is worth the trip out here. (Psst ... The Scharffen Berger factory and cafe are nearby!)
I love that pale blue wall color! I'm looking for that exact shade for my bathroom. I doubt it's hard to find on a swatch but if anyone knows the name offhand that would great.

This store is the best. I love it so much. True that it's near Scharffen Berger cafe, but also check out 900 Grayson, which is a great brunch and lunch restaurant right around the corner from Relish, a very easy walk. This is my husband's favorite burger in the Bay Area, but they also have great chicken and waffles... you'll like the space there, too.
