Contrary to what Thomas Wolfe said, you can go home again. Jeanice Skvaril did. When her childhood home went up for sale, she and her husband, Jason Fuchs, bought it. Architect Anne Laird-Blanton helped the furniture designer/graphic artist update the Greenbrae ranch house, while still preserving its character.

Changes included an orange front door, a new top-floor master suite, complete with steel and walnut staircase, and the addition of a wall of windows to the kitchen. Accordion glass doors in the living room open up completely to a large patio, where friends and family gather for meals.

The changes to the home also inspired Skvaril to start Boodalee, a line of modern kid's bedding.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the color of the bedroom. It's pretty much everything good in this world rolled up into a hue. I would marry it.

Garrett, I agree. The bedroom color is fantastic. Anyone have any guesses as to the color?

Thanks, guys! The color of the master bedroom is Benjamin Moore's 'Nocturnal Gray 2135-30'. You can see more images in the December issue of California Home Design Magazine.

I love the kid rooms, they have so much personality and color. They have some great modern furniture in their living room, like the arco lamp and barcelona chairs. Retro Furniture

Great post. Except the name of the CH D writer is misspelled. It's actually Erin Feher. Thanks!
