We find our monthly page-through of Elle Decoration UK to be incredibly refreshing. The British edition has a light-hearted, youthful approach to design, showcasing ideas that are more relevant to urban living than a lot of what we see in American shelter mags. This includes sister mag Elle Decor US, which features a lot of grandly-scaled homes and grandly-scaled furniture.
Then there's the convenience of having all that Euro style described (and sourced) in English. And all those British turns of phrase, like "trad" and "furniture range," which make us feel like we're on holiday. But we digress.
The thing is, Elle Decoration UK is not easy to blog. They have ZERO online presence, so we can't link you to their features. As an experiment we'll cull ideas and sources from the mag and match them to online sources, and you can let us know if this makes a worthwhile read.
this is my fave shelter mag... it's real shame that they don't have a web presence, and last month i had to visit 3 different barnes & nobles in new york city to find a copy!! blogging as possible would be fantastic :)
EL Decor UK is amazing. I so agree that is so much better than the heavy US version. I almost always find some inspirational idea from the UK one- as in US it seems so traditional and old.
At $9.00 each magazine I have quite the collection- I can't seem to throw them out. They are great refernces "books" even a few years later- as it seems that the UK is light years ahead in design ideas.

Elle Decoration UK is amazing. I've been a monthly reader for about a year now and, like you, find the design so refreshing. Color and pattern are celebrated, lots of amazing design from Europe, great writing, beautiful images, not ad heavy, it's a beautiful find.
Like Living Etc (UK) and Domino magazine, I collect them and refer back quite often.

Elle Decoration UK is absolutely wonderful--every issue is packed with inspiration, the essays feature different sorts of persons, it's just yummy. Too bad it's so hard to find in various cities.
Elle Decoration UK = my favourite shelter mag. It regularly features lots of great small urban spaces.
