Could you not shop for a year? We'd like to think we could, but in reality...

We remember reading in the Chron about the Compact a while ago. Now writer Zachary Slobig interviews a couple of the founding members of the Compact in GOOD Magazine.

 
 

The Compact is named "after the Mayflower Compact, the 1620 social contract drawn up by the Pilgrims, those Puritans bent on building a “city on a hill” that would be a beacon to the world. The premise was simple: barter, borrow, or buy secondhand for a year—food, drink, health, and safety necessities excluded."

O.K., we can see buying a lot of things secondhand, but undergarments? Nope.
