Blogging HGTV: Bay Area Casting Calls

tv_cart.jpg

We couldn't help noticing that HGTV recently launched several new shows that are filmed locally — including Find Your Style and Get It Together. (David Bromstad's Color Splash is an older one that's shot around here.) So we were wondering what future shows will be filming — and looking for homeowners — in the Bay Area.

Here's what we found on the HGTV site:

  • My House is Worth What?
In this real estate show, local agents evaluate homes across the country and determine an estimated market value. Homeowners are given the pros and cons of their property, in an effort to help them get the most money.
  • Unnamed New Design Show
The premise: "We're looking for homeowner couples who are in serious relationship jeopardy about a room or rooms in their house." A "nationally known design expert" will help resolve the issues by redesigning the space under debate. We're curious who this expert is!
  • House Detective
This show sends out certified home inspectors. They assist homeowners who are selling a place, potential buyers and people who just can't figure out a problem around their house. The series is looking for homes within a 90-mile radius of San Francisco.

Maybe we've watched too many episodes of Trading Spaces, but we're just not sure we could subject our home to a TV makeover — even if it is at the hands of a "nationally known design expert." You?

I think the second one is called "Find Your Style." I saw a show tonight that matches its description, and it definitely took place here in San Francisco! The expert is Karen McAloon.

Hmm, she's really good. I *really* miss her Design Remix where she remakes a room for "$50 and some paint" with here painter and carpenter.

We call her "perky girl", ha!
