Blogging InStyle: Knock Knock, Where's Oscar?

The March issue of InStyle magazine is full of everything Oscar, but this spread in particular intrigued us. The Academy Award is arguably the pinnacle of a film career — so how have past winners integrated such a significant object in their homes?

Desks and mantles seem obvious and popular, but Jodi Foster admits to keeping her two in the bathroom. Of the three pictured in this article, we like Christopher Walken's the best, among a little montage of objects. And that fireplace and mantle where Melissa Etheridge keeps hers? That's her bedroom.

Jennifer Hudson's is on a pedestal, where it sits uncovered, but she forbids guests from touching it. Hmm.

We may not have an Oscar, but we've got some track and field trophies hiding out at our parents' house. So, we know our readers are a talented bunch — do you display your statuettes? And if one happened to be an Oscar, where would you keep it?

Sinatra often used his award for "From Here to Eternity" as a doorstop.

A friend of a friend is the widow of Kenneth Utt, producer of "Silence of the Lambs." Her husband's Oscar sits on the piano ... the first time I was over there, I picked it up ... the darned thing is HEAVY! And the plating has begun to wear away at the ankles, the spot where everyone who visits over the years picks it up and holds it. (Very cool, I have to say!)

I have an award (not an OSCAR) and keep it in the entertainment center bookshelves. There is a light in the cabinet which spotlights it. Have to say the light is never turned on, though, and the cabinet is deep with a glass door, so it's pretty much invisible.

In the military we joked about having an "I-love-me wall" for plaques and certificates. You get lots of them, so you could theoretically fill a wall, aim some lighting at them and bask in your awesomeness. If you're sort of sad.
