Anh-Minh's post, Look!: More Photos from the Domino Contest Winner gave us a tantalizing peek into Catherine Golden's Mill Valley Home. Wednesday's Chronicle included her extended article, and a few more pics (don't miss the "before" shot)...

Anusha73 - It's actually the same room, which is why the chair is in both photos. In the top, you see the back of it as you're looking at her sitting area. In the second photo, it's the front as you're looking at the sleeping area (from the sitting area). I think she might have duplicate pillows to help visually tie the two sides of the room together.

And photographers (and art directors) do that intentionally so you can decipher the room's layout without a floorplan.

PS: Is it weird I like these rooms more now that I've seen the happy homeowner? She looks very sweet.

Thank You Anh-Minh, That is exactly right! I have two of the green bolster pillows and the french chair that I am sitting in is in front of my fireplace in the same room! And yes, the room is long and narrow so you see the front and then the back of the chair. I took all the pictures which is very difficult! It took about 200 shots to get about 15 decent picks. Every little thing shows up. I did not crop or enhance/change/mess with any of the photos. I am so honored to have my room recognized again here on apartment therapy. And Anh-Minh's article in the SF Chronicle was just terrific. She came to my home and interviewed me for over an hour so you get more of a flavor for my vision. Certainly if I had more money many things would be different but I worked within my budget. I love my zero clearence gas fireplace (the heat source for the room) and built the surround myself. My first construction project! Thanks again
Catherine

I am even more impressed with your photography than with your decor skills. The shots are really beautiful and extremely professional.

(That was meant to praise your photo skills, NOT to slight your decor skills, just to be clear!!!)

Beautiful room Goldie. This is your first construction project and it turned out wonderfully.
