Chihuly's Treasure Trove
Seattle Homes & Lifestyles

6-24-chihuly.jpgDid you know that famous glass artist Dale Chihuly collects vintage designer chairs? We didn't. The Seattleite (whose work is currently on display at the de Young) says, “I really just can’t think of any other piece of furniture that is as interesting as the chair."

The article also mentions Chihuly's Lake Union boathouse, which has an 88-foot long dining table. We want to see photos of that!

There was an article years ago in Metropolitain Home showing pix of his Boathouse - Do a Google Image search and you'll find some amazing photos of it as well as his other works, including a glass bottom swimming pool and a glass ceiling.

He definitely does have a glass bottom swimming pool as well as a hot tub next to it, a black light room filled wall-to-wall with fish tanks of exotic fish and coral made of clear/white seaforms. The table is beautiful/long and always adorned with glass in one shape or another, and this all pales in comparison to the rest of his studio. Dale has exquisite taste and always has some sort of collector nick-knack lying around. If you ever get the opportunity to tour his place, don't pass it up.
