This bit of serene inspiration comes from Dave Edwards' Portland home in West Hills, which he recently remodeled and updated from its 1960s origins.

Key to the remodel was opening up the space by removing the wall that separated the kitchen from the main living area. More impressively, designer Ramona Ramos flipped the layout of the bathroom, and moved it into part of the space previously occupied by the garage.
The interior colors were chosen to complement the ranch-style architecture and the woody surroundings.

Looks like a great place. I think the grainy / hazy quality of the photos makes it look straight out of a 70's home magazine. The brick fireplace wall helps too.

Oh I love this, remodeling, but yet paying homage to the home's origins, something too many people don't do IMO.
This is exactly the kind of remodeling I'd do, remodel, but do as was done here, make necessary changes/updates, but keep the overall look of the place relatively intact as possible, but it does help if the house was more or less original to start with to achieve this I think
