This billboard-like home takes up only a few feet of space on the ground yet has room enough above (though how much, we don't know) to live.
Montreal's Habitat 67 has units that stack, maximizing space and therefore allowing each apartment to have its own patio.

Living in those would scare the crap out of me. But it looks cool :)
These remind me of another strange dwelling that I recall seeing when I was on my uncles boat off the coast of Santa Barbara. There is (or used to be) a fully functional house floating on a slab of concrete right off the coast. Not a house boat mind you but and actual home in the middle of the ocean. It was at the time condemned and creepy looking but really interesting!
