Best Stores for Design Books
San Francisco

9-9-books.jpgLast week we wondered about the Best Stores for Design Magazines; this week we have design books on our minds.

Over the years we've had many favorite shops in which to stop and check out the latest design books, but just when we think we've found a place with an amazingly good selection... the next time we visit, the interior design section has been winnowed down to a small shelf of uninteresting finds. In fact, while working on this list, we could only think of two good places. We know there must be more -- let us know your favorites!

Berkeley:
• Builders Booksource (Fourth Street)

My hardcover candy comes from BMV Books in Toronto, a used and remainders bookseller with a fantastic selection of shelter porn, most of which you’ll find in the wide-ranging Architecture section. http://stylenorth.ca/blog/2008/06/cheap-thrills-bmv-books/

Seriously, yeah, William Stout Books in Jackson Square, SF.

A list of design bookstores in SF has to begin with William Stout, it is THE major one. Green Apple Books also has a good selection of both used and new.
