This may be old news to our more well-traveled Internetters, but we've just discovered Jeu de Paume's books, and are in love. From what we can gather from our admittedly poor grasp of languages, the company is run by Japanese people who speak French and specialize in publishing books about Scandinavian and European kitchens and apartments. Crazy; awesome.
The books feature incredibly well-styled and fabulous homes of what appear to be real people living in Stockholm, Paris, London, etc. Can't read Japanese? No big; the pages and pages of photographs will keep you occupied for days.

Ordering directly from the Jeu de Paume site is…complicated, but nearly all of their titles are available at Amazon Japan. Although Amazon JP is obviously written in Japanese (clicking "In English" helps a little), ordering is pretty intuitive -- it's set up much like Famous Original Amazon.com. Making an actual purchase is kind of a leap of faith, but it's worth it, we promise. The fun part is checking out the related listings under "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought…" -- we discovered tons more great books this way. Here are some ISBNs to get you started (plug them into the search box and go to town):
Stockholm's Kitchens -- ISBN-10: 4072499005
Stockholm's Apartments -- ISBN-10: 4072540021
Stockholm's Ateliers -- ISBN-10: 4072581585
All three books cost 1890 apiece, which equals around $17 USD.

More inspiration from Amazon Japan: Paris Kitchens, London Kitchens, and the hilariously named Stockholm's Love Apartments. Ooh la la!

these can be found at the kinokuniya in japantown in SF, if you wanna go browse through them first. highly recommended, as they cost about $25USD a pop.
i have four, myself: stockholm's kitchens, stockholm apartments, stockholm's love apartments, and paris love apartments (could be wrong about the last title). they are stunning eye candy, especially for those who are into colorful quirkiness. most of the stuff therein feels homey, sweet and really, attainable.

I love these books. I live in Seattle and buy them at Kinokuniya Bookstore, which has various locations in the US, and the prices are around $25.00.
Just bought Stockholm's Ateliers and Paris Kitchens 2, they are amazing. I find them inspiring for the home and my art.
