Just for Fun: Numerology of House Numbers
(or Apartment Numbers)

0422_numerology01.jpg

We recently stumbled onto something that's never crossed our minds: the numerology of house numbers. While we've always paid some attention to our house numbers, we've never looked at them in this way. For a little time-killing fun, try figuring out the numerology of your house number after the jump...

First reduce your house number to a single digit by adding the numbers together. If you live in an apartment, you have a couple of choices: By simply adding your apartment building's numbers, you will get the "energy" of the building. If you want the "combined energy" of your building and your particular apartment, add your apartment number in with the building number.

Okay, so far so good. We're going to find the "combined energy" of our building and apartment. Here goes: We're adding 1 + 9 + 3 to come up with 13, then adding 1 + 3 for a sum of 4.

So, what do we do with this number? Well, it turns out "Each house number has both positive and negative traits. The trait in which you see the house is up to you. For in other realities there is no negative or positive there just IS. How you perceive the energy is up to you, and only you. If you find that the negative traits are overwhelming, then you should try a house clearing to remove or break up the stagnant negative energy."

Ummm, gotcha. So what does the number 4 say about my home?

House Number 4
This house is one of order and neatness. Most of the repairs are up to date. For this is the house of the builder or professional who likes to climb the ladder of success. To calm the sense of authority this earthly house does well with a lot of indoor plants.

Watch for structural problems with this house.

Positive Colour Suggestions: Blue and gray muted colors, along with the greenery from all the plants.

Wow, that description is actually pretty accurate! Do you want to try it out for yourself? Add up your numbers and go to Think About It for your house numbers' numerology. Share results here, if you like, and let us know if they're accurate. Image: Apartment Therapy SF's Best House Numbers

Hmm, ok, so the house I live in is a 6.
House Number 6
Most people are attracted to a number six house. It creates a peaceful and loving vibration. The tranquility of this house assists to bring out the creative, romantic and considerate natures of its tenants.

Set healthy boundaries so that those around you do not interfere in your home or lifestyle.

Positive Colour Suggestions: Rose, Pink and Green

It's pretty accurate, side from the colors.

And my specific apartment in the house is a 9:
House Number 9
Humanitarian and Pet lovers live in nine houses. It will attract those who live to save the little guy. Medical people, visionaries and social workers love to live in a nine house. When living in a nine house, one may find that their psychic awareness develops a lot quicker.

Keep it tidy and safe, for this house activates the tendencies to become accident-prone.

Positive Colour Suggestions: Yellow, Pink, Violet and Indigo.

Not really accurate. I mean, I have a pet and I love animals of all kind, but I definitely do not fall into the medical/visionary/social worker category. And if psychic awareness means that I think every little creak or noise in my tiny apartment is a ghost, then ok, that's accurate. :)

Oh, and so far I've been accident free in my apartment! That's actually quite an extraordinary accomplishment for me.

My current apartment building is an 8. I can't do a calculation just for my unit because we're designated by letters, not numbers. The description for 8 doesn't fit my building at all.

The condo I'm buying is a 1, and apparently they're prone to fires. Goody!

I'm a 2 YAY!

I don't know how seriously I can take a site that puts that small grey text over royal blue. They obviously don't care about my precious eyes ;)

My building is a 5 AND my apartment is a 5. Spooky.

5s are temporary dwellings that either change a lot, decor-wise, or have people moving into and out of a lot. I can see that.

My positive colour suggestion is green - whcih is my decor's primary colour. Whew.

Apparently my current house (1) is prone to fires and the one I'm moving to (4) is prone to structural problems. Great.

Pretty darn accurate!
I got a 4 as well: my place is always orderly and loaded with indoor plants (love them!!).
Fun!

My House is a 3

This house is one of the happiest ones with a welcome sign on the door. This is the social house. It is a house that is very creative and suites creative tenants. With its unusual design it is the perfect house for entertaining both indoors and outdoors. If you like quiet, do not live next to a three house. For this is a house filled with noise, laughter and extravagant expression.

Well, it should be a social house, it's great for entertaining with a huge chef's kitchen, but we are not the entertaining type (YET!). BUt, I am a designer, so the creative part applies! And the not quiet part is partly true because we tend to rock out to rockband on weekends. And we just painted a wall in the office a very bright green... no subtle at all but it looks great and brightens the room up!

My house is a 3 and the only thing they got right was it's an unusual design. NOTHING else in the 3 house description fits us especially the colors listed.

The house I just bought is a 3, and it is so true! I am artist, and just got done painting it fun bright colors. The colors choices are a little off that the numerology suggested, but I do love to entertain, and I do tend to collect clutter in the process of my creating! My friends have told me that my house is the "fun house" where everyone wants to hang out, so I think that the numerology described it perfectly!

My apartment building is a 2: Here is a house that creates peace, harmony and balance in anyone's lives. It is a house suited for relationships, and people who are laid back and friendly. This is a great home for new lovers or people who have lived together for a long time. It will aid in the balancing of any relationship.
Ummm....no. The couple that lives above me fights all the time. They are loud. No harmony. No Peace.

Interesting...
My house is a 7, and we live on the water. What's even stranger is we chose our numbers when we built.

Wow, this was fun (and so what if it's rubbish?)! My house is a 7 too, which is perfect because my birthday is 7/14...which also makes me a water-loving Cancer. And my house came with a pond in the backyard!

It also says "keep your eyes and ears open to watching and listening to the plumbing systems"--which is funny because I am terrified of plumbing problems (dripping sinks, clogged toilets, you name it!).

Love it, I'm in an apt (5) with my fiance and we're hoping to buy a house soon - sure hope it's a temporary dwelling!
