Cheri & David's Creative Loft
The Selby

02.18.09_Loft_01.jpgWe are always looking for inspirational interiors, especially the ones that seem lived-in, not staged, and showcase an array of loved and hand-picked objects. We definitely collect too much stuff, so it is great to see a space that manages to still look creative, airy, and organized. The warm tones of the brick walls and wooden floors make this loft feel very inviting. Since the Bay Area has so many new and converted lofts, it is great to get some inspiration for decorating high-ceiling, open spaces. Check out more photos after the jump...

Cheri Messerli and David Rager are the creative minds behind this amazing space. We absolutely love the beautiful origami crane mobile and the cluster of paper lanterns over the bed. The wooden bookshelf provides extra storage and it is a smart way to divide the loft and create the bedroom without breaking up the flow of the open space. The simple ladder effortlessly blends with the decor of the apartment itself and we could see it being very useful in a space with high ceilings.

The collection of framed photos, silhouette art, and drawings seems randomly put together, but as a whole it fits perfectly with the rest of the decor. We also love the office area screened off with a simple white sheet divider.

From the Selby's website we have learned that the couple is moving to LA. We would love to see what they will do in their new home in California.

If you love the crane mobile as much as we do, check out another origami mobile that we featured on AT before.

Beautiful space. But I just can't stop staring at her shoes.

Must know where they're from!! Does anybody know?

@sakarina-i think the shoes are Chloe triple strap flats.. or they could be knockoffs. Kitson used to have a cheaper version but i think they're gone now..

I love the bones of the apartment, but there's so much clutter.

Love the exposed brick.
Would be really interested to know how many square feet the space is.

I love the paper lanterns over the bed! I had something like that in college, but apparently they were a "fire hazard" and they made me take them down. They remind me of the light in "The Princess and the Goblin" and make me happy.

what a great place! I'm not big on the whole "clean & sterile" look, so this place really appeals to me. A little bit of clutter makes it feel homey and lived-in. And the brick is just so warm and comfortable. Lots of great light too!

I could spend a lot of time in this appartment...
