Etsy Find: Crocheted Swiffer Duster Cover

Here at AT we get a lot of mixed reviews of the Swiffer. Some people swear by its ease and utility, others decry the waste and impact on the environment. For those who are moving from the former to the latter camp, this crocheted cover can be used to delay a decommissioned Swiffer mop's trip to the landfill.

Made from 100% cotton yarn, we're digging the colors and the machine-washable, reusable aspect.

I wrap a rag around the Swiffer head and clip it with a clothespin. Even less wasteful than a Swiffer cozy.

Yep, we just use our microfibers attached our Swiffers. They are hella grungy, but they still clean the unbelievable amounts of dust and fluff balls that tend to accumulate in a 120 year old house.

Although it does take ages to gather together enough stuff for a "nasty cleaning cloth" wash even though we use cloths to clean *everything*.

I will admit that the crocheted "cozy" is way more attractive...

Cool idea. I use rags too, but this is much more interesting to look at.

Are any of the yarn companies making a microfiber yarn?

method's omop comes with compostable corn-based pads, and also a washable/reusable microfiber one!

I use the washable & reusable Method Omop microfiber pads with my Swiffer Wetjet for both dry and wet cleaning. They work incredibly well and pick up a ton of gunk - I'm convinced more than the disposable pads ever did. The Omop pads just adhere to the base of the Wetjet thru some kind of velcro-esque attraction. Cool. They're a little bigger than the base too, but I find that's a good thing as it allows them to sweep under cabinets and appliances just a little bit. They pickup well dry and soak up a ton of gunk wet.

You can make your own Wetjet solution too, but I haven't gone that hardcore (yet).

I had to look up the definition of twee. Now I get it.

Did they crochet this especially for the Swiffer? Maybe they could crochet a toilet roll cosy next.

I had to look up twee also, and think a better definition for this is "old ladyish". But, I do like the concept!
