Close-Up! Katy and Tighe's Artwork and Collections

Collected sugar packets in a shadowbox frame are perfect for the kitchen

Many of you loved the warm and homey feel of Katy and Tighe's Cozy Island Cottage, and of course the gorgeous woodland surroundings might play some part in that. But we also think part of the reason their cottage feels so inviting is that they've decorated it largely with handmade objects and meaningful collections...

Katy and Tighe's stovetop espresso makers have been collected over many years throughout the couple's travels. Something about the rustic metallic finish of these is perfect for their cottage in the woods, where we would love to just curl up with a hot beverage and a book.

Collection overflow on the windowsill... check out the retro images on the panels of the one on the left!

Making a corkboard from actual corks collected over time is a great way to re-use corks from special occasion bottles. Here's a tutorial if you want to try this out in your own home.

We love the way Katy's hung her lovely shark print so casually, stuck directly to the wall, with an empty frame encircling it. This is a great way to set up your walls for easy art-switching, so you can move pieces around as you tire of them or want a different temporary look.

Hope this provides a little inspiration for Artwork, Crafts, and Collections month. If you haven't looked through the full tour of Katy and Tighe's cottage, do check it out!

I love the sugar packets in the shadowbox. I've thought of having a collection of moist towelettes displayed like that.

Haha! The caption makes is seem like the shadow box is the "art" and the knives are the "collection" :-P

The knives in the first picture remind me of one of Andy Warhol's pieces.

Pathetic...this is neither art nor collections.
