apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Close-Up! Lydia's Dining Room

11-7-close up.jpgOne of our favorite dining rooms on AT isn't really a dining room at all, it's more of a breakfast nook. There's something about the black and white checked linoleum, the paint color, the sun coming in the window, the cat... We'd love to sit there with a cup of coffee and a good book.

The natural lighting is spectacular! And that's a beautiful blue on the walls!

What are those mesh things hanging? Are they pendant lights? I like them.

It's perfection, in its own small way.

Still one of the best IMHO. Modern and chic, yet quaint and charming at the same time. Beautifully restrained, but not strained or pretentiously minimalist. I especially love the use of bed as room divider/art piece; looks like a wonderful place to wake up.

Lydia seems to have mastered the decorating version of transcendental engineering; the studio seems larger on the inside than on the outside.

very lovely!

I like the storage cabinet, and the peek inside! Clever idea, using the fabric behind the glass panes.

I love the glass cupboard doors and the crisp white paint and that it still feels cozy. Such a nice mix of modern and classic elements.

jacasi, in a couple pictures in the tour, or contest entry I guess it was, those mesh looking things appear to be parts of a mobile. I do like the idea to use it for a lampshade (that caught my eye immediately also) and have a pair of lamps for it that it's been hard to find "the right shade" for. I know what shade is supposed to be on for authenticity, but I don't really want to get all funky spaghetti shade retro. These are beautiful and delicate and I'm going to try to make them!

I really like this space and that was such a beautiful apartment, comfortable and casual. Not only just nice to look at, but full of ideas. I like and dislike things on this site, and people's apartments, some good things and some awesome things that are just not for me, but hardly ever see one that's exactly IT if you know what I mean. I love seeing this apartment and want to live there or make my place look a lot more like that.

Oh, wow. I just clicked through the full house tour and the adorableness you see here is continued throughout the space. I so want to move in there!

KTG, what are you going to make them out of? I would love to find out more about what they actually are. BTW.. the whole apt. is beautifully done, especially the color choices.

I think this picture shows what a couple well-placed plants can do for a room. Looks great.

This question has probably been asked and answered before but I have to ask - where is the table from? I've been looking for something like that for months. Thank you.
