Close-Up!: Natalie and Nicholas' Framed Photos

4-4-close up.jpgA couple of months ago our sister site ran a House Tour of a Melbourne family's cool home. In LA House Tour: Natalie, Nicholas and Arthur's Circus, the framed photos above the bed caught our eye. We've had it bookmarked ever since as something to think about doing ourselves.

We love the symmetry of the square frames. Oh, and, of course, we love the photos, too.

Do you know what the dimensions of the photos/frames are? Where did they get/where can I get similar frames?

They look like album frames. Usually the dimensions are 12x12 and you can find them Urban Outfitters or any record store. They're on sale right now at Urban Outfitters:

Hope this helps!

I like that ALOT I've been thinking of ways to hang many photos and think this is the look I may go for.
Thanks for the inspiration!

I have the same thing in my living room, but it's only 4 albums for now. I got my frames at Michael's (the craft store). They are black and were $10 each.

For the folks in the northeast, I have also seen album frames at The Christmas Tree Shop. However because their inventory changes over so rapidly, many items come and go over the course of a year. However, if you do spot them there, stock up - I bought two for $2.99 each.

Oh! I did this too! I arranged a grid of 9 black album frames to dress up the giant 16'x8' foot wall in my stairwell. The grid provides a nice focal point coming up or down the stairs. I made the collages in the frames so overall it was pretty darn inexpensive considering the scale. And I always get compliments on it. The frames actually measure closer to 13"x13" each.

I just book marked the same thing the other day! We just bought a large old farm house and have a king sized bed, which means bed frames are really expensive, so I'm always looking for alternatives.

I saw album frames at Target the other day, too! I don't remember exactly what the colors/materals were, but being Target, I'm sure it's stylish.

My local Michaels' has two similar types of square frames - 12"X12" for scrapbook pages and slightly larger for record albums. I think both were available in white or black.

That looks great in Melbourne, but I'd be hesitant about hanging so many objects over my bed in LA or other earthquake prone areas, unless they were screwed or attached to the wall securely.

And untidy beds lets the sheets and mattress dry out, thus dehydrating dust mites. It's not healthy to make up your bed, so you really do feel better DWF. :-)

I would stay away from the urban outfitters frames - we have two of the album/tshirt frames and they are not well made. I mean, you get what you pay for and all that but I wasn't expecting the glass to be hot-glued to the frame (and then the hot glue falling out in places).
