Art in kitchens can be difficult. More often than not, you're dealing with cabinetry dominating most of your walls. When we saw Paul's kitchen lined with masks he's collected over the years we fell in love. They're so vibrant!

It's such a rarity and a pleasure to see art that isn't flat in the kitchen.

Phooey, says I---there's nothing easier than art in kitchens! Just the fact that something's a "piece of art" and it's in the kitchen almost guarantees something interesting, no? One only need abandon one's notions of the traditional. . . .

I tried to display my collection of kitschy lunchboxes above my kitchen cabinets and found that after only a short time they were covered in sticky greasy dust - and I never fry anything! Has anyone else dealt with this issue? I'd love to have the colour and interest of a collection in the kitchen, but I don't want to have to take things down and scrub them every week.

Masks give me a major creepy feeling. In most cultures they represent spirits, some of which are not always benign. It strikes me as weird to have a bunch of them in your home.
