Love! I have a mother owl with about 10 babies on a window sill...my 6 year old constantly turns all the babies facing the window. He told me today he does it because they want to fly away

Owls never came back (from the 70's) for me..... Not sure if they were even "here" for me, except that I remember Mom giving me one for my apartment, made of macrame, hanging off of a driftwood stick. Now, I love Mom, but.....

Oh...and I did appreciate their role in Twin Peaks, but as far as decor, nuh-uh.

I think we had that trivet. I think everyone at the time had it. I don't know why people like owls so much. It's some sort of irony. Someone else's accumulation of stuff is junk, let's laugh at them, but someone deemed owls cool and so we can have as many owls as we like.

The current fad for vintagey owl thingamies is only possible because they were so overproduced and played out in the 70's that there is a vast inventory of discarded things available in the market. I look forward to the ducks in bonnets from the 80s gaining similar hipster cache when generation Z discovers them in granny's dust heap.

I was looking for the perfect owl ornament/lamp/vase for ages but then the moment sort of passed... Living here in Spain, but the time I manage to get hold of fad items they are out of fashion. Then I read somewhere that owls were a bad omen - I'm not usually superstitious - but it did kind of give me the creeps... so no owls for me I think

I think a lot of these fads pick up something old because it's kooky and random and so ugly, it's cool. Then everyone else does it because it's there. I don't think owls are bad. I think I have a tile trivet here with some owls on it, never really thinking it was a fad, it's just something I've had for a while from my childhood. I have a habit of collecting random bits that appeal to me, I just don't stick to a theme, like collecting all the owls (or collection-trend-thing) I see. But yes, the calico bonnet geese are coming. Cows too.

A random owl is cute, a collection of one type of item is interesting but when they all have the same theme (owl, smiley face, etc) it just looks like a collection of garage sale stuff.
