Create a Custom Rug with Flor Carpet Tiles
Red Jet Whistle

Flor carpet tiles have been all the rage for quite some time. They are customizable for any space and can easily be replaced if once gets stained, but there are limited by the patterns sold and the shape. Well, that was until someone thought outside of the box and did something so obvious it's genius. Why didn't we think of cutting them in half sooner?

Amanda of Red Jet Whistle loved Flor tiles, but wasn't in love with any of their patterns so she took matters into her own hands. After laying out the pattern in InDesign, Amanda took a knife and a straight edge to a few of her tiles and created a one of a kind rug for her living room! Oh, and before you ask, she made that coffee table out of a butcher block counter top from Ikea and some vintage hairpin legs!

We have a similar variation. We have a flor tile runner in our narrow 18' hallway. The diagonal length was the perfect width for the runner. So we laid the tiles down length wise in a diamond pattern, and cut some tiles diagonally to fill in the spaces on the sides, if you can picture it. This looks so much more interesting than the usual grid pattern.

Swanky! I've seen so many flor tiles cut in half to make rectangles, but this is probably the first where I've seen them cut on the diagonal.

Really lovely, but in my apt, this particular rug would be filthy in no time, especially round the edges.

Great rug - she just needs more tiles so it can be bigger
