The task: design and build a ready-made light that works with a low energy light bulb. Sounds simple? Here are some more qualifications: it should be built with prefabricated parts and costs for all parts should not exceed 40 Euros (approximately $60.00).
The results: incredible. Submissions from all over the world brought to light (literally) the wide variety of creativity and ingenuity that can be produced, and reproduced, with a small budget. Check out images from a few of the finalists (shown in images above) as well as many more unique designs here.

I made 157 of the first one for Montreal's SIDIM show back in 2007. Looked awesome.

oh my goodness! coincidentally, my supervisors made a costumes to look like jack from the jack in the box commercials (http://www.edgelearning.com/images/t_jackbig.jpg) and they made them out of styrofoam cups, just like the first picture, though they used hot glue to hold theirs' together. it was funny because they could barely see and kept running into stuff
totally off topic, but i had to share!

Oh no. At first look the styrofoam and binder clip light looked like the clips were spiders or something.

I thought the first lamp was covered in spiders too!
I really like the egg cup, though, and the lamp in the jar.
