Sara Paloma: Designer

Sara Palomas organic yet modern pottery has probably caught your eye at one time or another perhaps in your favorite boutique, in the pages of Readymade, or as a prop in the latest Restoration Hardware catalog. But did you know that she makes all of her beautiful pieces right here in the Bay Area? In her Emeryville live/work studio, to be exact.

The simplicity of her stoneware Bottle collection makes it easily at home in any dcor. According to her web site, Paloma is influenced by the shapes and silhouettes of the urban landscape around her. The variation in the Bottles shapes from long and lean to small and rotund makes them a natural for a grouping on a mantle or credenza. Together, they form a graceful skyline.

After taking a pottery class ourselves, we have a newfound appreciation for the skill required to form the lovely lines in her Ripple vases. We certainly couldnt make such even and straight lines on a wheel!

Palomas ceramics can be purchased online at Beeline Mid-Century or Relish. Since everything is handmade and one-of-a-kind, when you pick up one of her pieces for your own home or as a gift, you know youre getting a unique work of art.
