A Slatted Art Wall and Entry Nook
Portland Monthly Magazine: January 2009

Earlier this year Portland Monthly Magazine featured the first home of Jim and Andrea Frost, a farmhouse in the Alberta Arts District of North Portland. While the tastefully redone house furnished with thrifted furniture is plenty charming, we really like their entryway.

The couple screened off the front door area from the main room with a slatted wall made of old flooring cordons (an idea we've long wanted to steal). The slats provide the perfect framework for a rotating selection of artwork to greet the young family as they come through the front door.

Think IKEA Mandal headboards for a great hack.

does anyone know of an inexpensive source for the picture rail hooks posted above?

i've only found govartcom has prohibitively expensive shipping to Canada....

i have a LOT of things to hang and don't want to ruin my newly-painted walls!
