Blue Velvet Obsession

This is one color/texture obsession that's just not going away for us. While I've yet to own a blue velvet piece of furniture, these 10 examples have it high on my gush list, in a way that feels far from a fleeting trend. If anything is going to be covered with velvet, it seems that it must be in a great shade of blue...

Exactly! I feel your pain as I also have this obsession but have yet to find a perfect blue velvet piece, preferably tufted. I scour CL every day in hopes, but to no avail.

About the movie. Is it supposed to be so cheesy? Although Dennis Hopper was great (in all out creep mode), other Lynch movies are better. I just didn't get the appeal of that one.

Gush, gush, gush!

I feel you - I have my very own blue velvet sofa, and I couldn't possibly love it more! It completes me.

I have the blue velvet "Quinn" chair from R&B and I hate i t. But only because my 100-pound Great Pyrenees/Akita mix rubs her nose on it every time we come back from a walk. It is impossible to keep it fur-free, and it only looks good right after it has been vacuumed.

I am also totally obsessed, but the with turquoise colour like the last photo.

There's a chair in a shop near my work that is ALMOST perfect, but it's too expensive for almost. I still stare at it in lust every time I go past.

I have decided that, once I get a piping foot for my sewing machine, I will get some big foam squares and make floor cushions out of this fabric. There is some in a fabric store near me, and the price is pretty good. I also want some canvas covered ones for outside in the summer... I really should get on that...

I actually pretty much can't stand the color blue (hmmm...my mother's fav color, maybe?) but I love blue velvet sofas and chairs - the lush, is it royal? blue of that first picture! Yum.

I like blue velvet in a chair or a seat covering - but it's a little much on something as big as a sofa.

Ugh, I so desperately want something from Room and Board upholstered in Indigo Vance fabric... but I have a cat who sheds like crazy. So, I have decided that when I finally buy a home I will paint my living room a dark, rich blue. Hopefully that will satisfy my craving.

Blue velvet, green velvet! Love them both! I need a large cozy chair I can sink into and disappear for hours in either color!

But practically, how do you take care of the velvet so that it can retain its luster for years and years? If anyone has any experience, please share! That is the one big reason I haven't purchased anything velvet for the home...

I just got a teal blue velvet couch last month after craving one for a year! Now that I've seen these pics, when I get a dining room set, I'm covering the seats in velvet, too.

That blue velvet chesterfield sofa makes me say WOW! The only thing better than blue velvet upholstery is Pollack's Imperial Purple velvet. I need to find something to reupholster.

I clicked on this thinking yes, me too only to find that picture #7 is my house! I am sitting on one of those blue velvet chairs as I type this. AT, I love you.

I like the shade of blue in picture #10. So pretty.

Does anyone know where I can get those tables (or something like them) in #3. I've been searching for a low, low coffee table just like them.
