#13 - Jung Kim's Punch of Color

Name: Jung Kim
Location: Guam (Dededo)
Type: House (Owned)

Why I use color:

When I finish building my home, I'd just decided to paint all the wall white. After while I've noticed that it didn't defined any character for my self and the house. so, I'd decided to use two colors in the main room, to give them characters.. In the living room, I use a Java color to tone down the mood to make the room more comfy, cosy, and to make my environment more smooth. A wall that is face in opposite side of the wall, I decided to punch some color by adding "Heartthrob Red" to define my office space. The reason why I use Red, is because, I wanted to color contrast my room by separating two areas. Also, I had all white tables, black frames, White apple computers and etc... Why not take some risk? These color defines my personalities.

2 good color tips:

1. Most of the paint stores in my location offers a pint paints for samples. Test all color on your wall to fine what defines you.

2. Everyone one has different personalities, find a color that brings out your personality. Think about your hobbies, talent, work, beliefs, and attitudes to determine the color you want.

2 good color resources:

1. Sherwin William Paint Store. They have Color contrast samples that matches two tones, three tones, or a colors that goes will with certain colors.

2. Ask the paint experts at the store. Ask your friends, Mom, Dad, Brother and Sister. Ask any family members to help you to decide what color fits you the most.

I love how your Imacs pop in that heartthrob red. How about adding some window treatments and plants to soften up the rooms?

I've noticed alot of people are voting "no way" and not commenting in this contest.

Part of the problem is when people explain why they don't like something, others come down on them for being "too negative".

I think this one still has a way to go. I see color happening on the walls, but I'm not getting it from the rest of the furnishings. In the first photo there's an opportunity to do something interesting with red, black and white, but it just doesn't happen. In the second photo I'm not crazy about the relationship between the wall color and the cabinetry.

I think for the office white or charcoal grey desks with built-in or matching cabinets lining the wall would work really well. It would make the area look much more substantial and give you lots of storage. For the wall, I would put up just a couple large paintings or maybe a long horizontal element to parallel the desk area.

Yes. I think so too. I'm thinking of 4'x3' canvas painting on the wall at the office area, instead of small art work. Also what do you think abou the living area? Right now I have a small TV but I do have 42" Plasma TV I'm going to put up. Do you think that might help with the wall space. I just that I have a tall roof. Is about 10 feet. I made it that way because of the tropical weather, making the house bit cooler with high ceiling.

thanks
