Why I use color:
Color can be used to create an atmosphere to change your mood. I use a soft calm color for my bedroom to create an easy mood to relax and rest. Bedroom is a personal retreat place where you can close the door and be yourself. The calm feeling of color will make you relax and slow down from the busy world.
2 good color tips:
1. Define the themes of the room and what do we want to create from the color that we choose. For example: the living room can use some bright color to create a welcoming atmosphere.
2. Get some color samples and try to paint in small area first to get the feeling. Don't be afraid of experiment.
2 good color resources:
1. Local paint stores and Internet. Please be aware that what you see on your monitor screen might be different from what the real color of the paint is -- unless your monitor is professionally calibrated.
2. Design and art magazines could help to get the feeling of what color you like for the room.
I think I have color contest fatigue. Most of my voting attempts end in cookie errors lately.
It's weird how the top photo actually got me really excited, but then the bottom looks like a completely different room. The sense of serene balance is suddenly gone. I'm a big fan of that Eames lounge chair, but not in that color.
I have a feeling that the photos do not do this room justice. Really, this would have benefitted from a wide-angle lens and some no-flash photography.
Thanks for all the feedbacks and sorry for the bad picture.
The actual lavender color looks like the first picture above. The bottom one looks different because of the flash from the camera.
I should take some photography lesson...I guess :)
I concur that the color of the eames chair is a discordant note. Very serene room, but I think that Elizabeth over in the midwest has a better vation on purple w/ neutrals.
oops ... meant to say "variation on the theme of purple with neutrals" or maybe I should have said "Elizabeth used a similar color scheme and I think she executed hers better"
