2 Good color tips:

1. Trends come and go; follow your instincts.
2. No matter how many colors you use in a room, use at least one element that ties all of them together.

can't help thinking you added the green in the first picture by the help of your photo editor. even the white of the paintings looks green...

though i like the relaxed vibe of the apartment, i don't think this makes a winning color contest contribution with so much white going on. still a nice place though.

aad,

the green in the first photo could just be fluorescent lighting, probably from the kitchen.

I think you did a great job personalizing your home. While multicolored walls really work for some people--I prefer neutral walls with colorful accessories. I think it is great.

Hi,
I think your home is beautiful! Considering the fact that it is a rental, you have done a wonderful job. I absolutely love all the colorful accessories in your home. They bring so much life. I love that wooden chair in the living room.

I'd like to see this entry color corrected in Photoshop. It's almost impossible to tell the actual colors because of the lighting (florescent and incandescent) distortion. If this makes it further in the competition I would hope they would redo the photos during the day with sunlight as the main source.

Your place is nicely furnished, warm and uncluttered. I definitely think better photos would have been to your advantage. It is hard to get a true sense of your color use here.

Did someone fix the photos or is it just my computer settings? Weird, I first looked at these on a different computer and it looked like someone had cranked up the contrast and the green. Now, on my laptop, they're looking pretty good.

Maybe it's just time to calibrate the laptop?

Finally, an entry with an elegant and restrained use of color. Love it.

Oh for heaven's sake! That green is crazy (but strangely, I like it). Aside from the headache I might get if I had to see that first thing in the morning, it's pretty damn cool.

Hi All,
Thanks for all your good and bad comments. The pictures were taken at night because we were approaching the deadline and could not wait till morning. So the colors have been distorted by the lights in the house. The color in the entryway is not green. It's some kind of Khaki. So no, we do not wake up with a headache! :) I have posted a few pictures at this link that were taken during the day.

hi, what happened about the contest rules regarding links to other websites or house tours? does showing more pics (than 5 photos like everyone else) give this entry an unfair advantage? of course I have many more pics of my entry I would like to show everyone - but that's what the finals are for (if I shall be so lucky).

this is a solid start. i think you could definitely build on this. (the bedroom, though, I think looks great.) In the living room, I would perhaps reupholster one of the twin chairs, change the window drapery and the rug and put a nice tall plant in the corner where the guitar currently sits. I think that would enhance the space.
