The couple who owns Glendale-based Atlas Homewares started out in the decorative hardware business after landing in an all-too familiar place: the crappy bathroom and kitchen of a rented apartment.
These former jewelers realized that attractive hardware would spiff up the rooms that are the toughest to love in rentals.
Of their current line, our favorite for the bathroom is the stainless steel Zephyr Collection. Zephyr has simplified modern curves but is still decorative enough to work amid the stylistically conservative bathroom furnishings that are par for the course in most rentals. Components include towel and toilet paper bars, hooks, and rings, and a frosted glass shelf.
