Hmm, i'm not sure if i like the patina look but real silver would be soft enough to drill without sophisticated tools.
Very cool idea.

i had this same idea, except how do you get the holes on the door? Nail gun? Any info?

i made some hooks out of old spoons(for coats and bags), the only downside is that they dont hold much weight.....

since real silver is soft enough to drill without sophisticated tools, it's also soft enough that tugging on it to open a sticky door would most likely bend it. cool idea, but i'm not sure how practical it would be.

These are all real silver spoons, forks and knives. I got them at a flea market. most are Reed & Barton. We drilled them with a drill press and screwed them on the doors. They have been on for over 5 years and not one has broken or bent. The only problem I've had is with one fork that caught the back of my pants and ripped a hole when I stepped away.
