Flickr Finds: Doorbells

7-9-doorbells.jpgWe don't recall ever seeing doorbells/mail slots like this in the U.S. It's a shame because we can easily picture them gracing a San Francisco or Seattle building.

Looks like something Art Deco from the 30's. They've got great Art nouveau in Belgium, but their Art Deco is pretty awesome as well.

Gorgeous door! Very Art Nouveau if I had to vote. While the mailboxes are genius, the doorbells are a bit tacky on that beautiful door, but inventive, if nothing else!

It reminds me of the pest control commercial where the face is in the wall and talking to the owner of the house about the termite problem. I find that commercial and this door very Jean Cocteau Surreal in the Beauty and The Beast kind of way.
