Many of us aren't going anywhere for the summer, and incorporating travel-related decor into our homes can be either a sore reminder of our homebound state or a kitchy souvenir of travels past. We're not terribly keen on the lamp, but the rest of the tableau above showcases an easy way to incorporate vintage suitcases into one's home.

Am I the only one? No visuals came up on this site for this post.

But there's no room on the top for anything except a very small glass. And it's a pain to have to take everything down to get at whatever is stored in the bottom suitcase. I think this trend is tired.

I do this in the house all the time. You can often find great suitcases at estate sales and garage sales. Inexpensive and a different way to create tables.

I use them for storage in my front closet because I can remember what is in them better if I think "ok---Christmas ornaments are in the 60's red suitcase with the bumper sticker on it" - much easier than boxes, that's for sure!

I wish there was a company (other than Louis Voitton) that still made this style suitcase; I would love one in carrynon size (22x14x9) that wasn't as fragile as an antique.

I agree, the trend is tired. But I LOVE the painted floor.
