apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Flickr Finds: Anita's Integrated Kitchen, Lounge and Dining Area

Anita lives in Denmark, and if we didn't already have a longing to visit the Scandinavian design mecca, we do now. Her kitchen perfectly captures the balance of modern and clean-lined but cozy, and isn't flashy or expensive-looking.

This looks to be a rather cavernous room that opens directly to the outside, and we think Anita did a great job creating "zones" to make it a bit cozier and get more use out of her square footage.

this reminds me a lot of my space - i live in a tiny apartment with tile floors where the living room and kitchen are combine in one (very small) room. so i can totally relate to this post!

I think I would have been more inclined to place the kitchen table IN the kitchen area, rather than leaving a big empty area between the cupboards and the rest of the room. Then the "living room" would be more distinct as it's own area... instead of having a big kitchen table plopped down in the middle of it!

I agree with alaylam...there is more than enough space to fit that table and chairs so that it doesn't encroach on the living room area.

Was wondering the same thing. Why so much space between the cabinets and the table, then so little between the table or the couch? Even moreso, couldn't figure out what is blogworthy about the space at all. Seems nice, clean, an comfortable. But, I couldn't tell what is special about it.
