More artwork than clock, we loved this huge timepiece looming over the dining table in a house up for auction in Melbourne, Australia. Far from making us feel like we have to hurry up and finish eating, our eyes linger on the exquisite details...
...the ornate hands, and the white-painted piece on the other side of the hands from the numbers. We're sure this clock has a story, perhaps a previous life on the top of a civic building.

The term is "Overscale" - as in "Oversized".
And yes it's a nice clock, but I wouldn't want it in the dining area - it would only serve as a reminder that people are spending "too much time" at the table.

I love the fact that it's an authentic outdoor or station clock, way way better than the copies you find in shops.
I saw one not long ago in a store: it was an imitation Victorian style clock with written something like "paddington Station" (it wasn't Paddington but had a very British name I recall), and a date, 1775... as if the train existed in 1775.
So much for authenticity...
Anyhow real salvaged clocks like these cost a fortune.

The clock is very cool. But what I am really in love with is the combination of that table and those chairs. I'm having a similar table made. Does anyone know what kind of chairs those are or where I can get something similar?
