Psymonetta posted this picture of her paint color options to flickr with the AT:SF tag, modeling the best way we know to save yourself a lot of grief over that familiar conundrum: color that looks right in the can and dead wrong almost the second the room is complete.
She writes,
"I'm still trusting Devine color. We had a little bit of a falling out over the last paint fiasco, but I'm being prudent this time and trying out the colors with their handy sample packages. These are the three from the paint chips that seemed to most closely resemble the hue and tone I wanted. Once on the wall the ginseng is too pink, the almond too green and the glass is just right."
Psymonetta, have you finished painting the room? We'd love to see your glass-colored walls.
I was scrolling by and suddenly thought I was reading my own blog...hah.
The walls aren't painted yet. We still have painted over wallpaper to scrape and peel and some plaster repairs to do. But, I'll be sure to post the results.
I also adore Devine paints -- they give enough in the sample you can sample paint around the room to catch the different lighting (which can change the color so much). One color looked fine on the wall by the window but horrible away from the light. When I was repainting and had samples up all over everyone called it my paint graffiti look.
I like the glass -- I went with icing the hallway/kitchen/bathroom; a bedroom in paprika, latte and vanilla (ceiling); another bedroom in spray and icing; and the living room in icing and black and blue beans.
When we bought our place, the kitchen was already painted in Devine Moss, so I just went with it. I had a brief and jarring interlude with the Gecko color in our spare bedroom, but covered with Rain and am now a happy camper.
The minute I saw the middle and right colors, I thought "Psymonetta"!
We're probably going to use the Almond color in our bathroom. I love them both. Although, my husband may never be able to find me once we get the whole interior painted, since my wardrobe is mostly in the same colors.
