Flickr Finds: Tree-less Ornament Display

We're yet undecided about how we'll do the tree this year — whether we'll go with a rented live or sustainably cut option, or some kind of modern Christmas tree proxy. But BoringPostcards shows us that we don't have to wait to make up our minds before hanging the ornaments.

These inexpensive ornaments bring Christmas cheer to an unexpected place: a slatted hall door. Since the doors open onto a hallway rather than a closet, the adornment is a seasonally apt way to welcome guests into the rest of the home.

This is a great way for people with small spaces to still get into the holiday spirit.

I fill clear vases and bowls with colorful balls and put them on tables around the house.

I've also made tree-branch garlands and run them along banisters. They're great for lights and ornaments if you don't have space for a tree (works with artificial branches too, for a good DIY project and a used/old plastic tree).

I like the vase filled with ornaments idea too.
