Garden Hose Coil

hose6-28.jpgWe've admitted before that we're not gardeners, but the Garden Hose Coil just seems like the most sensible choice in hoses.

One of our pet peeves is tripping over our landlord's hoses that are never put back where they belong. We realize that sometimes people need soaker hoses, but if you live in a small space, with a small garden, why not just get a hose that's self-retractable and doesn't take up much space?

Plumbingsupply.com sells a 50-footer for $39.75, and a complete system for $53.79.

Those things are not the most user friendly when you actually use them. I bought one and it sucked. Remember telephone cords? (Ok, maybe some of you don't). The coils don't stay put, they get all twisted up in each other and it becomes a big snarly mess.

I agree with trillium. We are now having to replace two coil hoses after only one year. They kink, and then the kinks lead to breaks that shoot water. They might seem cute and practical in the beginning, but they end up being disposable and in a landfill somewhere. Think green. Better to get a good quality hose in the old style, and then use a hose pot to disguise it when not in use. I just got a cute "squash" style hose pot from Smith and Hawken, on sale currently:
