Garden Update: The Vegetables are Planted!

We did it! We put those cute little seedlings in our tilled and enriched soil and we're on our way to a glorious summer filled with fresh produce (fingers crossed, breath held...)!

We had a great reader tip (thanks knorqkitchen!) to check out the square foot gardening method. We think this would have been the way to go for us this year, sounds straightforward and completely unintimidating for the beginner...unfortunately we had already started plopping our plants in the ground.

In the meantime, we've ordered the book to prepare for next season. We'll let you know what we think.

Where did you buy your seedlings? Are you using heirloom?

i bought them mainly at the OSH nursery, home depot and our local corner nursery. nothing fancy or special this year because most were mainly impulse purchases, but i hear berkeley horticulture has an amazing selection. plan to check it out in the near future...
