Look!: Our Hanging Houseplants

6-17-08houseplantsmain.jpgLook at them reach for the light (is that what they're doing?)! We woke-up this morning and saw our wall-mounted succulents (common names: donkey tail, string of pearls) in their new position and it put a smile on our face.

It sort of happened suddenly. They weren't like that yesterday... so we thought maybe they were giving us a sign. We opened up the shades for them and will be consulting our gardener mother later in the day. Anyone have a similar experience?

What is the name of the succulent in the middle of the photo? My nanny had tons of these when I was a kid and I wanted to plant some in a discarded toilet left in my back garden.

It appears to be some type of crassula (related to the jade plant). I've seen different varieties called string of buttons. The right variety would give you a similar look, in any case.
