It DOES get windy in the Mission--at least on my block. There's always this fierce wind blowing off Bernal Hill down Capp Street between 25th and 26th. It's like a frickin' wind tunnel in the evenings.

I second that. Recently I bought a bunch of plants with adorable yellow flowers for my deck in the Mission. Two days later, the wind had stolen all the blossoms. But the green stems are still pretty, I suppose...

Oh and, my succulents (dozens) are flourishing in the fierce sunshine and brisk winds. I highly recommend it. Especially the Jade plants. I swear they are un-killable.

The San Francisco Succlent and Cactus Society will be having a sale in GG Park this weekend. The Bromeliad Society will also be there!

Omg, Vgishn, do we live on the same street?? I was just about to post the exact same thing about the Capp Street Wind Tunnel!

Oh oh...SMALL city...looks like we are all neighbors. Thanks for the tip about the sale in GG Park, Cheryl O. I also found really cool cactus plants at the Civic Center Farmer's Market on sunday. They were $2.25 each.

Small city indeed. I forgot to mention in my last post that I don't just live on the same street, but the same block. Anyways, I don't have experience with succulents outdoors, since I only keep a small terrarium in my room. But passing by houses in the Mission, I've seen some very impressive succulent planters, so they must be doing something right!

Thanks for the tip, Cheryl! I think this weekend lunch at Hotei and a little shopping for plants will be in order. I'll just hope I don't kill these like I do everything else green.

And spaceagemouse, which building is yours? That new fancy building on the west side of the street puts mine to shame. From my old unit (I used to live on the back of the building, but I recently moved into a unit in the front) I could see the backyard and they had the lushest, prettiest, greenest GRASS. Grass! God, what a status symbol.
