My home office, which is really just a corner of my house, is a disaster! I have boxes of papers stacked on my window sill, on the floor, with two rolling file cabinets stuffed to the brim. I need to organize this area so desperately so my husbands stops threatening to just throw everything away!

My problem spot would be my closet, which is, literally, the size of a coffin. And this would be my main clothes closet. I'm about to submit a picture to real simple, it's that hectic.

On March 1st, well be moving from a 1600 sf. apt with a huge garage to a 800 sf. house with just a small crawlspace. In our current house I have a whole room for my office, but in the new one I'll have to make do with a corner in the living room/kitchen/dining room. I think it's going to be a huge organizational challenge, and would love some help.

my closet!

My biggest challenge right now is my coat closet. It is not only used for coats, but it also houses my vacuum, my broom, my mop, my ironing board, my iron, my carpet cleaner, my old paperwork and receipts, my drying rack, my toolbox and my grocery cart. And due to the age of my apartment, all the doors have at least half an inch of paint on them, so I cannot use any over-the-door hooks, because they are too small to fit.

Please help.

My problem spot is the spare bedroom/husband's office/work out room/craft room/storage room's closet. It is a huge dumping grounds which houses storage, camping supplies, overflow office supplies and papers, and old computers. I would love help to finally get everything in the right place.

We live in a 1600 sq ft loft with no hidden storage, and everything in our combination art/music/storage room ends up blending together and piling up. Help organizing everything into three separate areas, and then creating efficient storage within in each of these areas would be a dream come true. It's a many-tiered project we've been working on for years, but have yet to come close to conquering.

My yarn!! I love knitting and I have an entire closet designated to yarn but I also have multiple "works in progress" littered about my house. I want to find a way to contain and display these without taking up too much space in my 800 sq foot apt.

I lived very comfortably in a 600 sq. foot apartment by myself. I just moved my fiance in, and we are bursting at the seams, even with the very modest amount of stuff that he brought. I had to move out of a closet for him, and every area-- the pantry, the bathroom cabinet, bookshelves, carving out a work space for him-- needs optimized organization. A life change like this is stressful enough without the space constraints!

As newlyweds, we're busting out all over. The kitchen (which has NO upper cabinets) and the closet (a nook with a curtain) need the most help.

I need some guidance in figuring out why I can't seem to keep EVERYTHING organized at once. I'm great at organizing things, but it always results in something else being unorganized.
For example, if I organize my desk area, my bedroom closet mysteriously becomes the victim of trash-heap syndrome. But then when I get my closet back to it's original state, suddenly my sewing area is a mess (whether or not I've actually USED it).
It needs to stop! I just want every space to be organized all at once! Please help.

Our apartment has had a problem room ever since we moved in. t's our home office/extra room for my stepson. Plus, it's where we store a lot of our craft supplies, sporting goods, camping gear, and luggage. But it consistently becomes a dumping ground for things we have no place for. We've worked and worked at it... changing things around, getting rid of furniture, buying new solutions. It still frustrates me every time I go into it! I know Spruce could create a setup for me that will stick... and function.

My office--between stacks of paper I don't have the guts to part with and my various project supplies, I'm never sure where to begin!

Oh, how I need this. I don't think I know *how* to organize, yet I dream of having a beautiful apartment without all of my clutter. I work in the technical field *and* i'm into crafts, so I have so much stuff that I don't know how to put away. Right now I just hide it all in stacks behind a shoji screen in my dining room.

I live in the living room converted to a bedroom so there isnt a walk in closet. We added two closets but the space is very unorganized. There is alot of tiny areas unused and I end up just throwing shoe boxes up there which cheapens the look of the room. I'm a student so I have alot of textbooks and files. In addition, I tend to be a pack rat. I'm in need of extra storage but am unsure how to achieve that. I have difficulty finding things that i need because things are stuffed into any empty spaces.

My shared office/guest bedroom. I bought a shelf months ago but it hasn't gone up. The avalanche of papers, the un-hung art. Or - my living room which has 4 doors, 2 windows, a fireplace, & 2 heater vents - I have rearranged this room at least 4 times in 3 years!

our office/studio - over 1000 records and all my dj eqpt, a bookcase, sporting goods (2 snowboards, my bike, some gym stuff), 2 desks of computer eqpt, two closets that are supposed to contain my clothes, shoes, tools... ugh.
Oh, and a futon that I'm not sure why we still have.

But, now that I think of it I wouldn't be able to afford to do all the things a consultant would tell me to do for at least 6 months (wedding, double ugh)

I just moved out of a cubicle into a bonafide office with a door for the first time. All the furniture is new and I've got lots of shelf space, but still have about 5 boxes of stuff that I need to unpack and get on the shelves. The stuff in the boxes is the ugly kind of stuff---papers and folded maps/architectural plans in file folders that I would love to get some help in organizing into binders or boxes so that it won't ruin the pretty and streamlined look of the office. My office office is...well...a fire hazard. I think my coworkers must secretly think I suffer from one of those psychological hoarding diseases (if you don't help they just might send Dr. Phil in). There are piles of papers and drawings everywhere. Really, my problem is that I need to constantly access a wide array of files for various projects (the official filing space is down the hall). As a result, I keep everything in evergrowing project piles until I figure out what has not been used for a while and then finally send those down the hall. I could really use some help from you (not Dr. Phil).

Although the decor and layout of my home is lovely and the adage 'a place for everything and everything in its place' looks like it applies to my apartment when entering my home, I have inherited the terrible hoarding trait from my parents. My closets, storage areas, cabinets, drawers, and space under my bed are filled to the gills with what I know are mostly useless things that own me. I have ceased to own them.

I need closet help! I have a tiny bedroom and no bathroom storage which leads to lots of random things in my bedroom cloest! I have sewing baskets on top of shoes on top of toilet paper scattered amid assorted and mismatched boxes and hand-me down racks/organizers. It's driving me crazy!

I am now solo and I haven't been able to take back my space. I need help in every room, but I guess the linen closet is really just a junk stash. I open the door a throw things in. It's really big and I have no idea what's living in there.

I run a dog coat & hoodie business out of my home. All items are made out repurposed tee-shirts, sweats & fleece garments. I am very happy to run a green business, but this choice does come with a price: piles of Tee's, sweats & scraps of fabric taking over my apartment or stacked in unsightly plastic storage tubs; Not to mention: the sewing machines, irons, thread, pins, ribbon, clasps, buttons, seam tape and other sewing notions. I spent 3 hours at the container store over the weekend, leaving overwhelmed and not knowing where to begin. The clutter is depressing to live in and slowing down my business. I have a small outlet that I have absolutley no idea what to do with it. Instead of making it a great storage space, I throw a curtain over it and put the kitty litter in their. As I need all the space I need (I ahve a 500 sq ft rental), the curtain solution is just a bit insane.

My girlfriend and I just moved into our new 900sq ft condo in Brooklyn, and after the move we realized we have way more stuff than space! We have really high 14' ceilings, but not a lot of built in storage space. We've been trying to organize and chuck unnecessary stuff, but haven't been all that successful, our computer desk always looks like a warzone! It's particularly tricky finding good places to put odd thinks like my bike, surfboard, snowboards, and loads of art supplies while keeping them accessible... we're both creative types and I'm a bit of a pack rat. Help! My and my husbands office/livingroom/musicroom is crying for some help. I want to turn it into a space for all things creative - like music, art, sewing and have it look good at the same time. I was a set decorator in NYC for 14 years - but you know the old saying... the shoemakers children have no shoes, well - I can't figure this out!!!

My husband's home office -- which doubles as our dining room. He's a talent buyer in the music biz so CD's multiply like bunnies in our house and the promo materials & band posters we get in the mail every day only add to the chaos. Not to mention the wires, wires, wires everywhere for external hard drives, printers, etc.

I dream not only of being able see the top our dining room table again but also of having a dinner party without spending hours moving everything OFF the table and shoving it haphazardly into a closet.

i've been (unsuccessfully) trying to make my desk area over for months now - and since i use an old dining table as my work surface, the lack of storage and drawer space is a real issue. i would love this!

I work from home and I run two businesses (a web development business which doesn't require anything but my computer and a jewelry business that requires all sorts of materials and supplies, hence space.) We have a total of 3 computers and 2 printers in the room, along with each of our desks, canopys and a separate table I use for my jewelry work.

My biggest challenge has always been making enough space for both businesses *AND* my husband when he comes home from work, in one bedroom. I love that I work from home, but my space just feels cramped.

I really would like to have a home for everything and keep it simple so it is easy to organize and clean.

We just moved into our first house and I could really use some help in my craft studio. The picture above looks JUST like what I need, shelves and storage options for all the bits and bobs. The laundry room also needs shelving and attractive options for hiding cleaning supplies and laundry since it can be seen from the kitchen.

we desperately need this! we bought our first house last summer, and the room in question is a 3rd bedroom/home office. it will soon become my real office, as i am leaving my government job to open a small law practice from my home to be close to our baby. it needs some serious organization, as its current state includes stacks of loose papers, with lots and lots of exposed cords and wires, piles of books, and not a whole lot of furniture. we've ordered a desk and other things, but need a way to get our stuff organized in a fun, modern way. i want a good place to work in and a baby-safe area for the little one to be in while i work. thank you!

Having just bought our first house this past September, we need help in a number of areas. Probably first on the list would be organizining my own workspace. I've got an "area" at the top of the stairs I'd like to commandeer for my writing, bill paying, etc.

Our bathroom has a tiny semi-sink and half-cupboard beneath. There is only 23" space between the toilet and the wall and we need some way to organize all towels and linens and meds and bath supplies. Closed storage is essential, the three-year-old boy in this house likes to "re-arrange" things.

I need help with my office area. I've got the room but its covered in clutter. I'm a full time supervisor who works from a home office, a full time mom, and a full time student. Ok, so where do I start I have as they say "hot spots" everywhere and I am soooo trying to get them cooled down before hubby deploys to Afghanistan around March 21, so see this is perfect, I need it by March 15 too :) We have two kids two and four months so you know if I don't get this done now, it will not get done for another 15 months when he gets back! To list a few hot spots, my new sewing corner so we could make a guest room, the back door area which we don't use and it collects all of the recycling, need a better recycling area, trying to raise my kids with that understanding and all. Ok, so me, pick me!!!!!!!

We moved into a two bedroom apartment from a one bedroom. We finally have enough space for our family of 3, but a month later and things aren't even as well organized as our smaller apartment. Kitchen organization and designing a landing strip are our top priorities.

We have so much stuff shoved into two closets, it's ridiculous. Craft and sewing supplies, files, boxes of holiday decorations, old baby clothes, luggage, clothing for the off-season, and gifts purchased on sale for future birthdays and baby showers, to name just some of it.

We moved to San Francisco into a charming, 1100-square-foot apartment from a sprawling 2100-square-foot ranch-style home in Southern California. We still haven't got the hang of living in a smaller space (we still buy the 24-roll pack of toilet paper, for cryin' out loud). My husband and I have a great loft. Hardly any clutter and pretty organized, except our unfinished closet. We have a huge wardrobe in our bedroom filled with most of our clothing. Besides a small coat closet, we only have one other closet to store everyday household and personal stuff. It has weird angles and is unfinished. What's it like now? Where do I begin? Okay. 2 hampers for dirty laundry. Cameras, 100's of knitting supplies including yarn, cleaning buckets, weights, serving platters, junk and worst of all, about 20 pairs of shoes, (mostly my husbands), that are scattered in a huge pile in the middle. Our loft is very cool but our extra closet is an eyesore not to mention a dumping ground. HELP!!!!!

In my less-than-450-sq-ft studio apartment I have a large closet that would have made a clotheshorse squeal with delight. Another challenge I constantly endure is trying to keep my desk and office supplies organized. Since I do not have room to fit a full sized desk in my room, I often find it challenging to organize the utensils I need on a daily basis.

I have a problem with paper. It seems to just get stacked up in piles and never gets filed. I end up searching for things at the last minute. I just can't seem to find a way of organizing my paper that works for me and that I'll stick with.

Closets definitely. half of my husband's clothes are in my children's closet and the other half is sitting out on top of a dresser. And my youngest daughter's clothes are underneath my bed in a plastic container. Help us, please!

I married an artist, and our living room area is now crowded with canvases and frames for which we have no alternate storage space (because all our other shared spaces are also filled to the brim)!

I'd have to say that my Master Bedroom is the trouble spot. I should be able to go in there and relax, but all I see when I walk in there is laundry I can't put up, mail I haven't opened, samples of hair products, vitamins, CDs, catalogs, magazines, etc. Help!

I so need some organization. Books, cds, and DVDs , as well as my clothing and shoes. They are everywhere. I had to move back into my mom's home, and she feels like she is drowning under my stuff. My husbands closet - right now his things are just piled up accordingly plus the use of baskets - that is it - the other side is a mish mash of junk!!! awful - and oh yes - in the back corner I think there are tax papers for the last 25 years!

With consistantly living at my work I always feel my apartment would be more enjoyable if it had a system for organization. It might help my dog become less neurotic if I wasn't running in and out of the door before I left looking for keys, scraves, hat, mittens, etc..

Where do I not need help! My home office is a mess, the kitchen has boxes that were brought in 2 years ago when my mother moved, my bedroom is a repository for everything that has no home and the living room is piled full of magazines and mail. If I have to choose, I think it will be the kitchen.

I really, really need a shot at this as I'm over-messed, over-project-ed, and under-funded!. My office is the bane of my existence, and I would willingly hurl myself at the feet of anyone who could help me become more functional in my workspace.
