Celeber Jars from IKEA

6-27-ikeajars.jpgWhile browsing our local IKEA yesterday we ran across these new Celeber Jars, and were quickly impressed. The mix of white porcelain, acacia wood and glass comes off as much higher-end than we're used to seeing at the Swedish box store, and they have a very pleasing minimal but natural feel to them.

The rubber seals felt tight when we tried them, and though we came across them in the kitchen section we could see them working in multiple parts of the home, from the office (paperclips and other supplies) to the bathroom (cotton ball and q-tips.)

Available for $4.99 to $9.99 at IKEA.

maybe it's just me, but white porcelain and wood is mostly seen in the bathrooms - toilets!? May be they look better in person :-0

i dont know... i like crocks, but this is a little too odd or a pairing, especially when seen with the entire line. It really screams 1970's (can avocado green appliances be far behind?)

I'm with jennifer in sf. Like 'em. Don't find them dated at all. I think walnut and shiny white looks very current and fresh right now.

I bought one yesterday to try out in our soon-to-be remodeled white porcelain bathroom with wood accents. I love the way this container looks and feels.

I got these a couple weeks ago - the canisters for the kitchen. The grainy wood up against the slick white ceramic is a nice contrast. I loved them the first second I saw them and I still do with them in the kitchen.

I saw similar ones at Pier One which looked really cheesy and cheap.

I agree the entire line is super cheesy, but these alone look great in the right kitchen/bathroom.

I haven't seen them in person yet, but love the photos of them that are on the Ikea site.

I'm with Robbybird, I love the contrast of the dark wood against the white porcelain.

I liked the way they looked – just have an ethical problem with any exotic woodtype. Although acacia grows fast, they cut down rainforest to make room for acacia-plantations. It has a beautiful grain, though.

my little apartment, there are no grooves or seams, so these bases could easily be hacked into vases or planters, or, I think I will use one of these as a toilet brush holder. they're quite heavy.
