Good Luck Garden Dessert Plates

8-6-08 anthro plates.jpgThe thought of hanging plates used to seem a little "old lady" to us, but we're starting to come around to the idea. Not only have we seen some beautiful, modern ways to display them, but we've also found some plates that we think deserve a more grand display than say, laying underneath a pile of food.

The fact is, sometimes we need something for our walls that works with the colors of the room, but we don't like buying art just to match our decor, you know? In such cases we think plates (or any other collectible item) are a great alternative. This cute dessert set features four different types of flower - lily, marigold, chrysanthemum and peony - and costs just $12 a piece. Add a plate hanger and you've got a pretty piece of wall decor for under $20. And doesn't the green of the plates look great against that deep teal wall?

Works for me (though I have no problem with little-old-lady-chic to begin with) and I love the plates.

I'm actually wondering if there's a way to do both... stick some plates on the wall that could easily be removed to use for food, too.

I'm sorry, for a moment I was too distracted by the thing with horns mounted to the wall. But yes, the plates are lovely.

whytephoenix--

Why not use picture ledges that that retailers such as West Elm, Pottery Barn, etc. sell and use them to display your plates that you can pull down to use?

I'm confused ... are the plates $12 each? That would make this arrangement cost $48 (not including plate hangers) ... not "under $20"!

Well, I suppose it would be under $20 for each plate and under $200 for the entire arrangement?;)

On the other hand, does anyone know what is the name of that deep teal paint?

i love plates and platters on walls. theres a ton of awesome pretty and graphic plates out there... plus you can mix and match and they would still look cohesive because theyre all plates!
