It gurgles, fairly loudly on the scale of sounds a few quarts of water can make.
The design and odd gurgling capability was apparently inspired by a pitcher discovered (and enjoyed) by the designer in a rural area of Southern France.
Get one for $40 straight from the source, in one of 12 glossy colors.
(Want to hear the gurgle? Right here.)
Oh, my Gran had one of these when we were kids, a real koi carp-looking white one with properly detailed scales and everything. It now lives in my brother's kitchen and I get a little wistful every time I see it.

An old English pottery trick, these jugs. Maybe it started somewhere even before that, but they are sort of thing you see on Welsh dressers in country kitchens in the UK.
Shreve, Crump and Low (old-line jewelers in Boston) have made a tradition of these, and offer them in various colors and sizes, including silver jiggers, very nice! I always give them as wedding presents.
