We usually pass by the herb shop on Valencia without a second glance, but today's window display wasn't the usual mix of healing books and crystals (okay, so maybe there was one crystal). The beauty of these ceramics whipped us out of our post-work haze... and immediately into the sage-infused haze of the store to find out more.
The attention to detail in Zindel's pieces is reminiscent of old zoological prints, but the designs are also very fresh.
We love the pairing of sweet (little birds, lady bugs) with something a bit more sinister (weaving snakes, hairy spiders), as well as the patterns the creatures create on the dishes.
The artist's work is available at the Scarlet Sage Herb Co. as well as these other locations across the US.
wow.

I have a few of her pieces and just love, love, love them. It started on a whim 2 years ago and now my partner and I will often gift them to one another. They mix and match really well and make fantastic display pieces. If you're in the New England area - they have a regular supply at Fire Opal, Artful Hand and Abacus.
